Capitol Region RSVP places seniors 55 and over into meaningful volunteer assignments in order to enhance their own lives and the community in which they serve.
Capitol
Region Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
has served the communities of Greater Providence for over 30 years.
The program gives retired seniors the opportunity to offer their
knowledge, experience and skills to the community by volunteering at various
local organizations. RSVP
volunteers mentor young children, serve meals at soup kitchens, provide health
care services for seniors, and organize fundraisers for several local
charities. The program functioned for 25 years
under auspices of the Volunteer Center of Rhode Island and has grown to include
over 650 volunteers in the surrounding

Today the organization oversees 750 programs across the
Each year Capitol Region RSVP volunteers offer more than 100,000 hours of service to their community via 100 local non-profit agencies. This volunteer service, while of greater societal worth, is valued at 1.3 million dollars by the Points of Light Foundation.

Capitol Region RSVP receives funding from the Corporation for National Service through a grant
providing for the director’s salary and other administrative expenses.
Funding is also received from the State of
