Computer Room for Veterans

Capitol Region RSVP (CR RSVP) is designing a self sustaining computer lab for veterans with disabilities to help restore the capability of veterans with disabilities and improve the quality of their lives and that of their families through the use of computer technology. CR RSVP volunteers would teach veterans how to use computer technology giving the veterans skills to volunteer and or work in their community.

The VA Medical Center will provide accessible and permanent space to house the new computer lab. The VA will identify the needs of the veterans so that CR RSVP volunteers can train them to be volunteers in the lab. The lab is maintained and run through the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and its volunteers. Through the use of volunteers this lab is a long term program that is self sustaining.

The CR RSVP volunteers take an active role in designing and developing new classes. Currently they are designing genealogy classes to use as a mentoring tool and feel that the veterans will benefit from this class. The VA Medical Center serves a diverse group of veterans from all of RI and parts of Connecticut and Southern Massachusetts.
